Format
1. We open with a paper-cutting Anansi story
2. We discuss the story elements and line of symmetry.
3. Students create their own story.
4. Then Valerie will tell a second story using the draw and tell method. or tangrams.
5. Students will create draw and fold or tangram objects
6.. Students will need several sheets of paper, pre-cut tangram pieces, and a pencil please.
Objectives
The participant will:
-listen to and enjoy Anansi stories.
-understand the role of a Trickster.
-appreciate West African and Caribbean literature.
-understand the important elements of a story.
-write creatively about a trickster or another character of his or her choice.
-apply story writing rules to his or her story.
