Johann Sebastian Bach is perhaps one of the most well-recognized names
among all the great composers of history.
But this wasn’t always the case!
Through this lesson, participants will understand the purpose that
Bach’s music served in its own time and how it was rediscovered and brought to
the forefront of the classical music world today. We will explore how Bach and his
contemporaries laid the groundwork for music written centuries later, and how
they created combinations of sounds to convey meaning through their music. Participants will walk away with a deeper
understanding of Bach’s music and its relevance both historically and today.
